But you will come to understand what i believe is most important about this place—that It is the centre of new and original thought and ideas. And it is ideas that are ultimately most important in this world.

Do not wait to be told or pushed to join an extracurricular activity e.g orts meetings, school organised competitions etc, all these activities are organised for us students and it is up to us to organise ourselves and enjoy these activities together. 2.听力是学生的一个薄弱点。虽然我平时也很注重学生听力能力的培养，教给学生一定的听力技能和技巧，但是考试中暴露的问题还不少。在今后的教学中我要加大听力的指导，告诉学生拿到试卷后，要根据题中的信息，预测将会涉及到的内容，这样可以减少记忆负荷，缩小信息范围，消除紧张的心理，提高听的效率。
3.单词辨音也是学生的一个薄弱点。关键是一些学生的朗读不过关，平时我每天布置的朗读10-15分钟英语一部分人能很认真的完成，但还有少数学生没有付诸行动。
4.阅读短文是学生的第三大弱项。阅读在今后的升学考试，包括中考、高考、研究生考试以及大学英语四、六级考试中都占有很大的分值。阅读短文是检查学生的理解和运用知识能力，很多时候会遇到课外生词，我发现很多学生懒得去查工具书，老师硬要交就乱写一通。
针对以上问题，我也研究了一些方法和策略，需要各位家长的配合和支持。
1、督促学生在家听英语磁带，每周不少于1小时，最好能每天坚持听10——15分钟，这将对孩子的学习有很大帮助。
2、每天消化当天所学的知识，不要积压任务。因此每天回家都有背书任务。我会在每单元结束的时候组织默写，并要求学生带回家给家长过目。
3、请家长督促孩子在家里完成家庭作业，以免他们来学校在匆忙之中互相抄袭。有时的默写作业我也会烦请各位家长签字，这也是为了给学生一点点压力，让他们知道父母会经常检查他们的作业本，一定要认真写才行。家长可以让学生自己默写或者报中文意思都可以，但最重要的是在学生默完后，督促他们对着书本更正。我发现，我们的很多家长都非常负责，他们已经在这么做了，而且做得很好!
4、每一个单元都有阅读的部分，并且附有课后习题。如果你的孩子英语基础不是很好，可以督促他们先在家，做适当的预习。家长可以帮孩子购买工具书，如英汉词典等，孩子在平时作业中遇到不会的可以查阅，这样可以培养孩子的学习能力，同时也可增加孩子的课外阅读量。

I remember when I was a freshman, a junior student was giving a speech on this stage i was so impressed by her, and made my mind to study hard. So what I did in my pervious three years was just about making full use of college resources to develop my own potentials.
In my first year, I studied hard as I did in my high school, attending every class, listening to teachers carefully, reviewing after class and doing homework by myself. College at that time was a brand new stage for me, I was trying to find my way of adapting to it quickly. I participated in various kinds of activities to improve my abilities, such as joining in the students union, going to the old people’s home, selling newspapers outside campus, taking part in chorus competition and recitation contest. I think my ability is somehow improved through the year of efforts.
The second year was a very important turning point for me. I tried to learn more by myself and then apply the knowledge into practice. the very important event for me is the 18th china daily 21st century cup national english speaking competition in which I got the first prize in our school. but what I want to mention is only the benefits I gained from thiss competition, for eample, my english speaking ability has been improved, and no longer afraid of saying a word in public and also I made friends with many students from other universities with whom I can share eperience. and some other competitions like hubei provincial translation and interpreting competition, and so many more. another part is the social activities.

很高兴能有这样一个机会，能和大家进行面对面的交流。我是五年级的英语任课教师，我姓肖。下面我就我们英语学习方面说我一些真实的感言：
在英语课堂上，大部分学生都能很活跃的回答老师提出的问题，积极跟着老师读单词，读课文。其实这也制造了一种假象，学生认为自己常常被老师提问，认为自己能够回答老师的问题，于是认为自己的英语学得很不错，自我感觉特别好。于是下课后在英语上花的时间就少了。其实要学好英语，课上占40%，其余的60%还需要学生在课后不断的巩固，加深记忆。在课上老师更多的是教授新知识，当然课上也会有少量的时间巩固新学的知识。但是这些时间是公共的时间，而不是每个学生私有的时间，所以不可能照顾到每个学生，不可能让所有学生都达到相同的程度。况且每个学生对新知识得接受能力都是不同的，有的可能当堂就已经有很深的印象，很难忘记，但这肯定是很少的。大部分学生都只能是初步接触了新知识，要真正接受新知识还要学生在课后多下功夫，不然肯定会和别的同学拉下差距。
那么在课后学生到底该怎么做才能把其余的60%补回来呢?学好英语，不外乎就是在听、说、读、写这些方面下功夫。
首先说一下听，每个学生都有和书相配套的磁带，可是请各位家长检查一下自己的子女的英语磁带，有多少学生的磁带还是和刚发的时候一样的，根本就没有听过。光靠上课听一点点的磁带，学生的听力根本就不能有什么发展。不会听就不能说，不能说英语就白学了。
每上完一次课，我都叫学生回家要跟磁带读，可是有多少学生真地做到了呢?所读的知识已经学过了，跟录音机读应该是提高自己的听力和口语表达能力，要学生尽力地去模仿录音机里的发音，从而使自己的听力和口语都提高一个层次。
接下来是说，英语学了就是要说，要和别人交流。在课上我会用各种方法来刺激学生，激发他们说英语的积极性，大多数学生也确实做得很好。可是班级里人多，对每个人来说，说的机会就少。所以下课也要说，放学回家也要说。在学校，我鼓励学生把所学的英语对话运用到生活中去，这样有更真实的情景，更能让学生有发挥的余地。在家里，希望家长也能鼓励学生说英语，也许你会说你自己也听不懂，请不要这样想，其实学生需要是你的鼓励，你听了他们说的只要简单表扬一句，他们就会很满足了。有时候你们也可以不懂装懂，或者还可以让学生反过来教你，他们会觉得很自豪，因为自己所学得派上了用场。
接下来是读。学英语要培养语感，也就是语言的感觉，如果有很好的语感，那么不管是说话，做题目，都很轻松，很简单了。那么语感怎么来呢?就是靠读出来的。一定要让学生养成每天读英语的习惯。如果你的子女还没有养成这样的学习习惯，请你一定要督促他，刚开始也许会比较难，时间久了，就会习惯成自然。就像早上起来要刷牙洗脸一样，要让他们把读英语当作每天必做的一件事。
最后是写。五年级英语已经对学生有一定的书写要求。背单词是学英语的必经之路。单词往往背过就容易会忘记，所以要不断的背，不断的翻新，这是没有办法的。我要求学生在背单词的时候要边拼边写，嘴巴和手都要动起来，嘴上十遍不如手上一遍。还有句型，五年级所接触的巨型都是很简单的日常用语。学生应该在课上领会句型的意思和运用方法。可后还需要通过多读课文，多练习才能巩固所学的句型。所以请各位家长不光要注重孩子背单词的情况，还要让他重视句子的重要性。
总而言之，请各位家长多关注孩子们的英语学习，让孩子养成良好的英语学习习惯。家长的重视会让学生增加信心，提高学生的学习积极性。与其在期末时看到大家都不愿看到的不理想的分数，还不如在平时就多关心孩子学习的过程。还希望家校携手共同提高孩子们的英语学习水平。我要讲的就是这些，谢谢!
下面我想就英语学习方面向各位提几点建议：
1.帮孩子树立学习的信心。

可能有的家长认为：对于孩子的英语有点力不从心，因为自己不懂英语，《作业记载本》上即便是签字了，更多的时候也只是一种形式而已。当然我这里所指的是部分家长，我知道我们家长中也存在的一些英语高手，有的家长自身的英语水平是远胜于我的。那么，在这里我就结合《作业记载本》上的作业，跟大家分享一些处理的方式方法，不管您自身是懂英语的，还是不懂英语的，都可以根据或借鉴我所讲的去实施操作。这其实，也是我想通过本次家长会想更家长朋友沟通，并且希望家长朋友配合我做的几点。
我们每天《作业记载本》上的作业不外乎这几种：
1、抄写。对于抄写作业，家长可以一目了然地看到孩子的书写情况，对于书写质量不过关的作业，家长可以直接让孩子重写。我虽然不主张你帮助自己的"孩子检查纠错，但是如果你的孩子学习习惯或者是学习基础的确与班里大部分同学有明显差距的话，还是希望家长能多留意些。
对于六年级的孩子来说，抄写是不应该出错了的，包括单词的正确书写，大小写，标点符号等等，我相信一个在平时的抄写中，容易出错的同学，在考试中也会容易犯类似的问题，而由于这些错误的失分，是相当可惜的。每次抄写作业，我都会尽可能地批改出孩子们所存在的问题，如果您的孩子抄写上还存在问题的话，希望家长朋友重视了。
说到这里，我想外带一点，希望家长们能加强对孩子良好学习品质的培养。特别是对于我们这个班级的实际情况，我发觉我们现在许多学生在考试时的失分，不是不会做题，而是不够细心。而细心正是一种很重要的良好的学习品质，一味地以一种完成任务的态度对待学习也是有害无益的，而因为粗心导致的失分，我个人认为那远比不会做而失分，来得更为可惜。
2、在家长处听写单词，并批改。对于这个作业，有能力的家长可以报英文单词让孩子听写，如果您自身不懂英语，您可以给孩子报中文，让孩子根据中文写出英文单词，也可以让孩子先写好中文，然后脱离课本或资料进行默写，这些方式方法，我都有跟学生交代，就不知道学生有没有将这样的说明传达到你们那。一般这样的听写，我都要求孩子们自行批改一次，我觉得这样的批改是有好处的，在自我检查的同时，还能找出自己所存在的问题，进行针对性的记忆。
说到这个听写，我想提下我们平时在课堂上集体听写的情况，应该说，情况是不容乐观的，我们每次听写，糟糕的时候有近一半的同学不能过关，少的时候也基本上有十零个，我的要求是90分以上过关。而这个听写我都会在前一天让孩子们去准备，作业记载本上的听写与随堂的听写结果，完全是两种不同的结果。由此，我在想我们有些学生在回家作业听写的时候，是抄写的，而不是听写。近两次孩子们的听写特别好，两次听写未能过关的同学大概是4个左右。其中有一次我也以短信的方式，传达给了家长，并且免了孩子们当天的英语作业作为奖励。最近两次的听写，一次是早自修进行的，给了他们十分钟时间的准备，一次也是给了学生几分钟时间准备后，再进行的。这说明一个什么问题呢?并不是我们的学生记忆能力有问题，而是有个别学生根本就没有花时间，用心去背单词，在短短的十分钟，甚至是几分钟就可以完成任务，这些学生我认为是绝对聪明的。
所以在此希望家长朋友能够重视回家听写的作业，单词的积累对于英语学习至关重要，我们写句子，包括文章都离不开单词这个基本元素。准备越充分的学生，在课堂上听写的时候，就越有底气，正确率也就越高，越能体验到成功的喜悦，越能增强孩子学习英语的信心。否则，一次一次地听写不过关，我真可以说是对于孩子一次又一次的学习信心上的打击。
3、完成相应的练习或练习卷。作业当天，家长可以看下孩子的完成情况，一般这样的作业，我也都会批改，也请家长定期亲自翻看我批改后的练习，这样也更方便您知道孩子平时的作业情况。
4、测试卷签名。其实测试卷上家长签名，是一个外在的形式，我的目的是，让家长知道孩子一个阶段的学习成果，看孩子的试卷，不光看分数的高低，跟更要关注孩子错误的原因，是因为粗心，还是因为本身就不会。一次考试，不仅仅只是分数上的收获，更是一种学习方法上的收获。
考虑到有的学生存在报喜不报忧的情况，每次试卷下发后，我都会以短信的方式，通知给家长，近几次考试，我在孩子试卷的左上方，编了孩子在班级中的排名，供您参考，了解孩子这样的成绩，大概在班级中是怎样一个位置。
5、口头作业。这应该也是英语中的常规作业了，平时的作业中用的比较多，但我觉得，对于部分学生来说，这样的作业达成的效果并不好，比如我前段时间布置了读《句型》的口头作业，但在后期的课堂抽查中，情况不见好。希望家长能帮助落实这方面的作业，不管您听不听得懂，也不管孩子是否认真读了，是否读对了，我想读了肯定是会有收获的，哪怕读了一遍，只留意了那么一两个句子也是好的。
《作业记载本》我每天都会让学生带回，并要求家长签字，希望家长留意了，“今天，您签名了吗?”
接下来我想跟大家来分享一个我们现在复习阶段的一个教学片断。现在我们的复习课，基本上是以练习卷的讲解为主，结合练习中所涉及的知识点，我都会一而再，再而三地进行复习滚动。一次我在讲解完十道选择题，并说明选择那些答案的原因之后，给了学生2-3分钟时间去整理回忆，然后再抽学生自己去讲解，结果刚刚讲完的内容，足足站了半个班级的学生，有的甚至讲到哪里都找不到，当然这也不排除，有的在我讲之前就已经没了那一份资料的。我讲这个片段，主要是想强调我们现在部分学生的听课效果真的不尽人意，希望家长能够引起重视。
